Videos Are Good (Or Nice)

Creating videos is fun (here’s a beginners guide on recording and uploading your game video) and it’s good way to tease your audience on what kind of stuff is coming. I just pressed the record button to get this video out about my Dead Wake zombie game. (It’s recorded mainly for the community members, but thought to share it here as well…)

(Hmm, the randomizer says “suck on that” several times on the video. Maybe I’ll change the system so that it goes through the one-liners so that certain phrases aren’t said so often.)

  1. Instead of just going through the different audios, you could generate a random order in which to go through the audio so there is randomization but a single piece of audio isn’t played more than twice in a row. You can even prevent that by making sure the function that generates the next list doesn’t pick the last audi segment again for the first one. :)

  2. @Lumooja: Fraps is good. Try it again. :)

@Sam: friend of mine said the same thing. I’m going to either (1) get the ‘rotate’ more smoothly, (2) add also animations to make the dog turn smoothly or (3) do nothing – at this point. Many things to do… dog AI being more important to me right now. Thanks for the comment.

  3. The game looks good, but the dog seems off. Why does he always run up at you then face directly at you? creepy. When it first happened I thought that he was going to bite you also. Maybe he could run up perpendicular to you? Or like kinda run around in circles looking for something… IDK it’s your game but that part seemed a little weird. Looks like a lot of fun!

  4. I use NCH Debut for video recording and NCH Video Editor for editing. They’re both free, and there are also a commercial versions available.
And you don’t need any other tools or converters as they can save directly as wmv.
I have also Fraps, but never got it to work.
