I have this problem that whenever I launch a game, it automatically minimizes (I have Samsung SyncMaster 2494HM). There’s an easy solution for this: Close programs (especially Firefox) before launching a game.
It was a painful thing, but at least this did the trick for me.
I started coding games when I was a small kid with access to Commodore 64.

You must be kidding! What’s the connection between the monitor and the game? It’s more likely to be the fault of some software… Unless you installed some f**ed up monitor driver :)
No, I’m not kidding. It has something to do with dual monitor setup I had, or 2 video cards I have.
Just look for “samsung minimizes game launch” and you’ll find plenty of posts about this problem.
It is bloody annoying.
Aaaah, dual monitors, dual video card. Then it might happen. I had a dual monitor setup with two samsungs and didn’t have any problem… But only one video card.
Yeh, happens to me with dual cards. That’s probably the issue then…
